About us
Cigars aficionados Chris and Reba Brown bring cigar lovers together in the DMV where Cigars aren't a habit, but a "Peace of Mind"... a lifestyle.
Uncork & Burn was created by The Browns who love a variety of wines and cigars, to where the couple would pair a smooth glass of Cooper & Thief Cellarmasters Red Blend Wine with a Plasencia 140 Cosecha Gordo and smooth glass of Line 39 Sauvignon Blanc with a Padron 1964 or a Drew Estate Java Wafe Red or Java "The 58" Maduro.
Chris, who had a successful Information Technology (IT) career and business, would enjoy a nice slow smoke after long business days of juggling client meetings, projects, and work tasks. Business travel throughout the United States over an IT career that spans 32 years would afford Chris the opportunity to visit some high-end cigar lounges where he envisioned owning a classy venue for people to enjoy.
Reba, a United States Navy Veteran (VET), who's traveled the globe while serving her country discovered her love for sake during her tour in Japan. She enjoyed a wide variety of sakes, learning that sake is not considered a wine, beer, or a spirit, as sake has its own beverage category. Reba also found a sense of class and elegance for women smoking cigars, a trend that has seen more women smoking not only flavored cigars but more natural cigars in 2023. She witnessed the traditional bourbon and scotch spirits being replaced with gins, rums, sakes, tequilas, and wines.
The great anticipation of tasting of a fine bottle of wine—removing the cork, the pouring, the swirling, the settling, the clinking of glasses… selecting a fine cigar, cutting, and lighting. The romance between pairing a fine wine with an equally fine cigar is a love affair. Both deliver a sophisticated range of tastes, textures and flavors being made with such a global presence. Balance is a key attribute with competing strengths and flavor profiles, so when selecting a quality premium spirit, particularly wine, it’s imperative to evaluate their respective qualities and pair them in complementary fashions.
